Surely that would be an unusual one. Although lyrebirds apparently learn much
of their mimicry from other lyrebirds rather than the model species. Though the
learning needs to start somewhere.

For what it is worth, this year, again, the lyrebird can be heard along the
Kambah Pool walking track (from the opposite side of the river).

I heard a Lyrebird this week mimic an owlet nightjar. First time I’ve heard
that. Bird was on Kowen escarpment. Also mimicked Red Wattlebird, Crimson
Rosella, Magpie , White eared Honeyeater, GST (2dif calls), Golden Whistler,
and Grey Butcherbird. All local birds. Must be listening at night, though
owlet nightjar do call in day.

Regards
Richard
