Hi All,
So, I know you've all been waiting with baited breath about my musings
of whether the spotless crake was just passing through or resident...
So, since I had that first brief view I've seen it twice more in the
identical place. Once last Tuesday in the morning, ~7:45am- very
fleetingly as it scurried away- and then this afternoon on the way home.
Maybe he/she was feeling the need to feed before the coming rain, but
for whatever reason it was foraging quite unconcernedly for a couple of
minutes; I have posted a poor quality photo on ebird, unfortunately you
can't see the head! but you can get a feeling for the size. On this
occasion I could see the red legs, white undertail barring, and red eye
ring-such a cute little guy.
So, that would represent a "hit rate" of about 3 out of 15 for the site,
pretty good for a skulker :)
cheers,
Peter
