I spent some time this morning leading a group of beginner birdwatchers
on Cooleman Ridge in very pleasant conditions. I was expecting to see
YFHE migrating and there were a couple of flocks of them flying over but
not large numbers. There were a number of mixed feeding flocks on the
move dominated by Grey Fantails. In these flocks were Scarlet and Flame
Robins, Golden Whistler, Silvereyes, White Plumed Honeyeater, New
Holland Honeyeater, Striated Thornbills, Yellow Rumped Thornbills, Brown
Thornbills, Speckled Warbler, Striated and Spotted Pardalote. The summer
migrants seem to have gone. Coral Dow
