Apropos the International Ornithologists Congress held in Canberra 12-17 August 1974 as mentioned by Jack Holland in his post on the above meeting. A few years ago, in a used book store, I came upon a nicely bound hardback edition of the proceedings of that congress. The main driver of the whole shebang seemed to be the late Dr. Harry Frith, chief of the then CSIRO Division of Wildlife Research. The papers contained in the book are a treasure, most particularly, from my personal point of interest, Henry Nix's  presentation, Environmental Control of Breeding, Post-Breeding, Dispersal and Migration of Birds in the Australian Region. I'm told this was a much sought-after paper a quarter of a century later.
