I had a quick grebeless visit to take a look from Black Mountain Peninsular in the rain.  What was more evident was the colony of gulls on Spinnaker Island.  Taking another look this afternoon I found quite a contrast, much less activity with mainly (presumed) brooding birds there.  2 photos of same section of colony below, note dead branch.  Enhanced pic on right of birds beneath dead branch, from slightly different angle.
