After being absent from my survey site for some months, Fairywrens turned up again last week in reasonable numbers, also some scrubwren. It is not obvious to me what has changed except the area has dried out a lot. Much of the ground became waterlogged with the wet weather and only now seems to be getting back to more normal conditions. Is it possible the birds moved to higher ground during wet conditions?
