Early one morning this week the view from Dairy Road across to the awakening Monaro Highway suggested a little verse –

 

Near whizzing cars the dark ponds lie

where waterbirds abound.

But why, then, asks the passer-by,

no watchers can be found?

 

An edict, stern and rather harsh,

has banned them from this spot.

They wander else where through the marsh,

the poo-ponds now forgot.
