At 11:00 a.m. today, in the Pegasus Riding School car park, Holt I watched as two Black-faced Cuckoo-shrikes hurtled by and entered a nearby tree. A moment later a Brown Falcon arrived about three metres directly above the tree and hovered, as the books tell us, "clumsily," for a second before flying away. I've read or heard somewhere that if a Brown Falcon hovers it's probably a younger, lighter bird because the higher wing loading on older and likely heavier birds would prevent hovering. 😕 Any comment?
