Thanks to all the people who volunteered to help out. It will be much appreciated by those who visit the wetlands.
The view from Snipe and from the three viewing "windows"  near the first hide are much reduced by vegetation immediately in front , so hopefully some of that might be trimmed when time and weather permits.

This morning the ‘Friends of Jerrabomberra Wetlands’, under the guidance of Ranger Miriam, took the opportunity to tackle some of the Cumbungi Typha latifolia vegetation growing in Kelly’s Swamp. This management action was taken in response to comments about the loss of view from the Cygnus hide.

The Cumbungi was cut below water level to reduce regrowth with the resulting biomass taken to a nearby bank of the swamp. Before any cutting occurred the area was searched for nests. Although Reed Warblers, Grassbirds and Dusky Moorhen could be heard calling from the area no nests were found.

It was deemed appropriate to manage the Cumbungi at this time of the year before the plant flowered and to reduce dust and dried plant material which could cause respiratory problems.
