My main take from Geoffrey's post is that these people in Birdlife Australia must have too much time on their hands.  If such a proposition makes it to the Birdlife Priority List it must surely be in a position with 5 digits to the left of a decimal point.

I’m pretty sure ‘Rainbow Lorikeet’ is not a personal name, but, as there is a strong generational flavour in all this, anyone with a 1980s childhood might see the Rainbow Brite connection.
