Hi everyone,

Last week the committee decided to contribute $1000 towards the cost of
a tracker and encourages COG/Canberra Birds members to contribute if you
can. When I looked just now the project has raised $29692 out of $116300
needed. So there is still a long way to go.

Regards

Committee member

Matt Herring’s message below. Some Canberrans will know this species as
an intermittent acquaintance.  Below are a few slides from a talk a few
years ago on the history of observations here.

Dear friends, family and colleagues,

We are now live!

The crowdfunding campaign to track at least 12 Endangered Australian
Painted-snipe has begun.

https://chuffed.org/project/paintedsnipe
<https://chuffed.org/project/paintedsnipe>

Our plan is to use the program to help trigger the conservation actions
so desperately needed to save the species.

Any support will be greatly appreciated. Why not become part of the
project? One of the best things you can do is share it through your
networks, such as email and social media, and encourage others to help.
Your personal endorsement will go a long way.

We want loads of people to see it so they can consider supporting the
project, but we also want to target groups and organisations that might
be interested in becoming a key donor or a sponsor (e.g. there are
naming rights, tours, photos and other perks). Any ideas are welcome too.

And special thanks to those of you who have already donated directly
through the pre-launch. It's great to have you on board. It's a fabulous
start but we have a loooong way to go.
