My hand is on the shoulder of Alice Wells who is also just as responsible for agitating to save Bluetts Block. This award would have been better if it were about the two of us – as I indicated at the award ceremony.
Although Alice is often one to stand in the background she is a power of knowledge when it comes to Bluetts Block and her work is valued enormously.
Access to Facebook has been a major contributor to our successes to date. Member numbers of Bluetts Block (public) Facebook are beginning to increase rapidly (809 today). On Bluetts Block Facebook you can see
lots of beautiful photographs and information about the block.
It is also possible to view the site without joining. However adding your name to our number of supporters is very worthwhile when it comes showing Government the volume of our community support.
Many thanks to Steve and all who have responded to me.

Congratulations to COG’s own Jean Casburn, awarded the ACT Environmentalist of the Year
by the ACT Conservation Council at their Spring Mingle last Friday – see two attached pictures, details in the
Conservation Council Facebook post. Jean was given the award for her work highlighting the flora
and fauna values of Bluett’s Block, the well-known birding site near to Mt Stromlo that still awaits formal ACT government protection.
I recall introducing Jean to Bluetts Block back in 2015, less than a week after I first birded there – here is
our first eBird list from Bluetts.
