The spring bird survey on Mt Majura was done by Kathy Walter (Sept 18) and Peter and Natalie Miller (Sept 21). Sunday was sunny but blowing a gale while this morning (21st) was mild, overcast with little wind. A total of 30 species were recorded over the 9 sites.

Highlights from Kathy were a Tawny Frogmouth on nest. Today there were a limited number of Yellow-faced Honey-eaters moving east as well as couple of Noisy Friarbirds. A single mixed flock of Buff-rumped, Yellow-rumped, and Brown Thornbills, Silvereyes, Grey Fantails, Superb Fairywrens with a single Speckled Warbler accounted for almost all the small song birds. We did not match Steve and Prue's 3 cuckoos (gooroo) but did manage a single Fan-tailed Cuckoo. Not on the survey, but in area was a lone Collared Sparrowhawk.
