Not a recent photo, Martin, in fact one taken during the days of yellow-tinged smoke haze in December 2019.  One of a short series inflicted on birding-aus to show the wider Australian community the conditions we were experiencing here in Canberra.  Remember the exposed aquatic veg in the shrinking LBG?  According to eBird, no SNI have been seen near Parliament House since the election was called.  Possibly they are lying in wait for Scomo at their favourite spot at the Forbidden Ponds (aka Fyshwick Sewage Treatment Plant (no access)).

When was the photo taken Geoffrey?  This looks very like the flock that watched a croquet match (next to the Hyatt) on 4 May.  I am curious whether they are moving towards or away from ScoMo Central.

Intermittent coverage continues on ABC radio of a favourite topic, the house-fly reducing dung beetle program. We are told that the national stock of premium breeding beetles is maintained at Black Mountain, snug, well-fed and secure from predation. Just as well. There are plenty of hungry dung-turning ibis out there,  not far away.
