That’s good to know thanks Alison , I got the camera out to get a decent non-phone photo all week when going on the dog walk and have not seen them since ….

The adults are usually only on the island during winter . Once the trees are bare I can usually see them from my kitchen window I will let you know when they show up. I have heard gossip they nest up on one of the islands at the golf club but have not seen that myself.

I don’t think that has affected this pair. I saw one around 2:00 pm on Friday and the pair were still seen on Sunday morning. The damming of the creek had already been done when I was there on Friday. Maybe it is just time for them to move on. A local also told me that they have not seen the adults this at all this year but they were around late last year.

Our pair have disappeared . Probably has something to do with the damming of Ginninderra creek at Giralang wetlands

I also flushed a juvenile out of the reeds at Banksia St wetland in O’Connor this afternoon.
