While playing with our kids at the Melba St Park playground in Downer yesterday I heard an unusual (and loud) bird call and took the attached recording to help with future identification. Walking toward the sound, I discovered it belonged to
a captive Yellow-headed Amazon parrot, which was in a cage outside. I'm not sure if this bird is well known but thought I'd share. I wonder how many other captive birds there are across Canberra confusing birders with their exotic calls.
