Mt Majura Woodland surveys were conducted by Kathy Walter, John Goldie, Duncan McCaskill and Peter Miller on 29-30 November. The ground was extremely wet underfoot after recent rains and the grass was thigh high in places. Lots of native
forbes flowering which was great to see. A total of 32 species were recorded for the surveys. Of note were plenty of Noisy Friarbirds and Red Wattlebirds moving around all sites and Sacred Kingfisher observed at 2 sites. Smaller birds found at 2 of the sites
included Speckled Warbler, Weebill, Buff-rumped, Yellow-rumped and Brown Thornbills along with Leaden Flycatcher, Grey Fantail and Superb Fairywrens. The absolute highlight of the survey was a Painted Button-quail heard at one of the sites and one heard in
between sites in a different area.
