Perhaps I should have mentioned the range of breeding activity on the Lake Rd dam.  Flotillas of ducklings of Pacific Black Duck and Grey Teal; 2 Coot nests and another bird carrying the makings; and 2 Australasian Grebes on nests.

The Lake Rd Dam is vast - I don't think I have ever seen it more extensive.  THe highlight there was 3 Blue-billed Ducks 1 M 2 F.  A bit further along Lake Rd - which  is in ordinary, approaching average, condition - I came across 6 Cattle Egrets perched on a row of fence posts out near the water.  That area must be frog-enhanced as there were also 11 White-faced Herons nearby.
