Subject: Seeking volunteer data vetters ABBC 2021 - ACT

Hello!
My name is Karina Sorrell and I am the data analyst for this year’s
Aussie Backyard Bird Count. We are looking for volunteer vetters who are
passionate about birds and data to help check the counts. We have a
couple of regions around the country where we have some gaps in local
knowledge that is necessary for the data vetting - the ACT being one of
them. Your Canberra Ornithologists Group was suggested as having some
possible interested members.
As you will know, this year’s Aussie Backyard Bird Count was on from
18^th - 24^th October. We now have the data ready to send out to all our
vetters, and then they will have roughly three weeks to complete the
task. Data vetting consists of looking through a spreadsheet of species
and count records, and flagging any that seem a bit out of place. We
will apply some filters to the data prior to sending it out that
highlight interesting records to make the job easier! I have put
together some instructions that takes all vetters through the process so
that everyone is on the same page and the process is as easy as possible.
If you know of anyone that might like to get involved, could you please
pass this email along to them, and ask them to contact me at this
email address. Thanks very much.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions!
Kind regards,
Karina
