Actually there appear to only be a select few bird groups where English has assigned a special name for the young birds, (other than chick or nestling). Ones
I can think of are cygnet, gosling, duckling, eyass, squab, pullet (various spellings). These appear to be only in cases where the birds are or have been socially or for food, important to people.
