Agreed re feather identification. There are a lot of Wood Ducks in the suburbs
at the moment, checking out nest holes, eating crushed acorns etc. Some have
recently been struck on roads or taken by dogs/foxes(?) in Ainslie which
generates a lot of scattered feathers.

The feather to me looks like from a Maned Duck (Aust Wood Duck), which fly over
our houses sometimes (for those who don't know, Lia lives close to me). I can't
see it as of any local raptor. Main predator of Crested Pigeon breeding (at
least of chicks in nests) is almost certainly the Pied Currawong.

I have a Crested Pigeon on a nest in my neighbour’s garden, but sadly this
morning I found a carcass on my back lawn. Unanswered questions: Was it a cat
or a raptor that took it? Was it one of the breed pair? The attached photo is
of a barred feather which lay beside it.
Does it belong to a raptor, or the last bird that the raptor took?
