That would be the known group of brown quail.

We saw 7 quails at Callum Brae park on a few visits. At the top dam. Didn’t photograph them so not sure what species

They were out in the open and we watched them (from a distance) for some time.

    Inspired by recent emails about buttonquails and exploring lesser known
    local birding spots I went for a walk in the forest between Bonner and
    the Oak Hill lookout, which looks like favourable habitat for painted
    buttonquails.

    To my amazement I briefly spotted, then flushed a female painted
    buttonquail, about 50m below the lookout. The bird landed just across
    the NSW border (behind a fence), into a rocky woodland with dense leaf
    litter. From the ACT side I could see at least one platelet, but not the
    bird.

    Other interesting sightings on the walk included a white-necked/Pacific
    heron flying over, five southern whitefaces and three flame robins. The
    rest is on ebird.
