Not sure where you are in Wamboin, but I heard a Pallid Cuckoo this morning too, at our property on Cooper Rd. The first individual I've observed this season. Also calling was an Olive-backed Oriole, which was also the first for the season.
Lots of birds nesting at the moment, including Choughs with mudnest, both Wood Ducks and Pacific Black Ducks, and Kookaburras investigating nest sites, Striated Pardalotes in their usual nesting hollow and a pair of Scarlet Robins courting. Also some Dusky
Woodswallow flyovers, and increasing numbers of Yellow-faced Honeyeaters and Grey Fantails.
I've potentially heard Leaden Flycatcher and Rufous Whistler too but haven't been confident enough to confirm their return yet.
Cheers, Luke.
