I also saw the choughs there yesterday afternoon on my home from a vet appointment. They were on the pathway at the back of the Kippax shops, and seeing me and my three small dogs approaching (one barking at them despite being on a lead)
they quickly flew up into the trees so I didn’t see the injured wings.
However, there has been a family near the Kingsford-Smith school for several months now (perhaps even 12 months) so I presume these are the same family moving closer to the shopping centre. Didn’t have my camera for a photo.

Subject: [Canberrabirds] White-winged Choughs at Kippax Fair
Whilst out shopping yesterday afternoon I had the occasion to sit in the car for about 45minutes. The time was spent watching a group of seven White-winged Choughs in the car-park and up against the shops doing their typical Chough thing.
The group paid no attention to passers-by or to parking traffic as they fossicked around, under and on top of parked cars. About one in ten members of the public glanced over to see the birds and none bothered to stop and watch them. One bird had a crook wing
and all appeared to be healthy adults. One bird spent the time under the shop eaves flying from one sign to the next to take insects from the window frames.
Their behaviour was typical Chough but I was surprised at the location and complete lack of fear. Is this unusual or are Choughs starting to become so adapted to the urban environment that they are now a feature around other shopping centres?
