Kambah Swift Parrots (again)

Of course I can only go by what is observed. My last observation (and mention of them to this list, was 14 July). I have been back to that site variously 2 or more times a week since first finding the birds there (it is near home and places I go anyway). That suggests there had been a gap of about a month for them there. I was not suggesting they had left the bigger area, There are now lots of suitable habitat trees in the suburb, for example now supporting biggest numbers of Rainbow Lorikeets that I have noticed before in Canberra and maybe the Swift Parrots have just not been noticed other places nearby.

I reckon it’s likely that they are there still rather than again. I don’t think they’ve been elsewhere and are on the way back via that spot. Why move if there is plenty of food?

That is amazing that they are there again, wonder if they are on their way back already. It sure has been amazing what has been happening with the birds.

Thanks for the report.

I first reported Swift Parrots near Kambah Medical Centre, at the bottom of Jenke Circuit Kambah on 20 May, which resulted in many people going to see them. Going there again today at about 9:30 a.m. I observed a group of about 10 Swift Parrots flying around there and calling, behavior pretty much the same as before.
