G'day Belinda,

I have cycled past the pond near the RSPCA twice in the last 8 days, both times
in the late afternoon, and both times I saw a large group (15-16 birds) of
White-fronted chats foraging in the grass by the pond - they were a truly
beautiful sight!

Best regards,

Brian

I have just joined this list group so am only reporting now what I saw last
week. I was stopped at the intersection of Cotter Rd and Streeton Drive in
Weston Creek and saw several white-fronted chats on the median strip with 3
lanes of traffic on each side. They are very distinctive so I think I'm
correct. They were also close to the wetlands across the road near the RSPCA,
habitat they prefer I believe.

I am also seeing every day in our garden a group of 5-6 satin bower birds, with
one adult male and the rest female/immature males. I was amazed to read that
immature males take up to 7 years to develop the black colouring. It is only
in the last 2 years that we have seen bower birds in our suburb (Deakin).
