My thanks to those who were kind enough to contact me privately to query my identification of Danny's thornbill as Striated. I thought the crown was streaky rather than scalloped and that the ears were streaked, but it seems that my ageing eyes are betraying me. I readily concede to those more astute than I and accept that it's a Brown Thornbill. Interestingly, they wouldn't normally be expected to start nesting for at least another month. Ian--
