At 8:45 this morning I saw around 20 Red-browed Finches feeding on short mown grass just off the shared path, about 30 metres north from the McDermott Place barbeque area at L Ginninderra. My first count totalled 18, followed by a count of 22. So I reckon 20 would be a realistic roll call. Interestingly, although the area was bathed in bright sunshine, each finch appeared to be feeding in shadow cast by tree branches. Perhaps, (obviously?) when in shadow, they are less noticeable to predators.

In approximately the same place, ninety minutes later, I noticed a flock of 24 Red-rumped Parrots while 20 metres farther along nine more were feeding.
