A single Double-banded Plover was seen on the north-western taxiway at Canberra Airport last Saturday afternoon (15 May), just behind Costco. It was viewed for several minutes with binoculars from a vehicle from about 20 metres away and it flew short distances but was reluctant to leave the area, so the identification is definite.

It was a surprising observation, and certainly a first for Canberra Airport.
