Mt Majura surveys were conducted over two days - 30 November and 5 December. The vegetation was extremely lush with grasses above the waist at some sites. 29 species were observed overall. Highlights were: a single
Dusky Woodswallow; Sacred Kingfisher calling at a couple of sites; a silent
Dollarbird; Brown-headed Honeyeaters heard at the last minute as we finished; and
Superb Parrots and Rainbow Lorikeets at a number of sites. Small birds were pretty scarce with only 1-2 of each of
Brown Thornbill, Superb Fairywren and Weebill. Speckled Warblers
and Buff-rumped Thornbills, usually regular at one or two sites, were only found in between survey areas and so didn’t make it to the list.
