at my home. A nocturnal fly by.

Well, that was quite a bit of rain last night, making it a wetting experience to thread one’s way through the backyard jungle to the compost bin. Near the bin was a pair of sodden frogmouths, quite low in the giant Dawson
River Callistemon, now in full bloom and attracting noisy lorikeets in sunnier conditions. The below view, which belongs in the species juxtaposition category, shows the sodden FMs, with a closer look at the upper one (inset). Out of focus in the background
(C), in a euc in the neighbour’s backyard, is a male peafowl, possibly muttering to itself ‘If I wanted this much rain I would have stayed in Bangladesh!’
