Commonwealth Park this afternoon I heard some currawongs calling and beak clacking. On a closer look I noticed a pair of currawongs swooping something in a tree. I assume they have a nest there but I couldn't see it as the tree has thick foliage. Then I saw a large beaked bird with a light belly. At first I thought it was a kookaburra but through the leaves I could make out two Nankeen night herons. The tree is the one closest to the back corner of Stage 88 on the Nerang pool side.
