I sent the following reply yesterday. It still does not show. So I am trying again. Apologies if it now comes through twice.

What is the size? It is clearly a duck. There is clearly some barred brown breast feathers. From that and the generally pale head, and shape of the hooked beak I suggest Plumed Whistling-Duck. It is the only match I can come up with.

We found this bird (obviously female) which apparently flew into the fence and perished. Unable to identify, so posting a couple of pics of the bill which may help. The bird was near the Curriwinya NP, Queensland, shearing shed. Unfortunately there is no foot, which would have been helpful. Note hooked bill.
