Nicki, agree, the BIRD INFO data on the COG web site shows it has been  recorded in July in only 4 of the 35 years covered.  However, it doesn’t fully support my impressions that if it arrives early it’s a sign that it will be a big year for them.

 

It’s certainly worth keeping an ear out for them.

Another sign of a possible early spring is that I’ve heard Common Blackbirds in full song before sunrise near my place over the past week.

A Pallid Cuckoo was calling at Goorooyaroo yesterday.

Yes, the winter has been mild but this still seems pretty early.
