Koels (sorry)

Years ago we were rather surprised at having Koels become regular around Canberra, then surprised again when they started becoming regular breeders. I predicted it with my text in The GBS report of “no breeding records - yet”. We were surprised again when they set on the habit of so thoroughly targeting just one host species. I think it would be the biggest surprise yet if they were now to have another round of starting breeding at mid February, that being an exceptionally late start for two species. Even with the odd weather. Let’s see what happens.

Yes adults calling again around my home in the last week. Though I think just 2.

Just to note that the Hughes Koels have started calling again after the recent rains. Perhaps there are signs that Red Wattlebirds are contemplating nesting again.
