Thanks for the posting Terry,
Chinese pistachio is an official weed species in the ACT now. There are 
pistachio   plants growing in bush reserves and inhibiting the survival chances 
of native species.
The species has separate male and female tree with the berries being borne on 
the female trees though both give spectacular autumn colour; hence their 
popularity.
If the hungry birds’ systems destroy the berries’ viability well and good. 
Obviously some bird species eat the berries but don’t destroy the seeds hence 
the species’ unwelcome appearance in other gardens and reserves alongside 
long-established problem species such as privet, cotoneaster, hawthorn and 
firethorn..
