May I draw attention to the recent excellent article by Geoffrey Dabb in Canberra Bird Notes (Vol. 43, issue 2, 2018, pp.161-71): "Age-related variations in plumages of Eastern Koel,
Eudynamys".
Geoffrey writes (p. 165) "For present purposes the question of interest concerns the rate of plumage change after fledging and before departure from Canberra. An obvious early change is the development of adult plumage in upper-wing coverts, which enables
the sex to be identified."
There are also photos of such individuals.
I highly recommend that concerned parties read Geoffrey's paper.
