... to all those who sent me directions to the Regent Honeyeater site in
Watson. I picked up a visiting Canadian birder at 0730 this morning in
Kingston and met another colleague at the site and by 0755 we had found,
and they had photographed, the bird. Going by various photos posted
online and David's excellent video, the bird is in obvious tail moult,
and I suggest probably in primary and secondary moult as well. I am
going to stick my neck out and suggest, going by the size of the "warty"
face that the bird is a female. The site is VERY close to where I banded
the 7 birds in 1997 that I mentioned in a previous email. This, however
flimsy, is further evidence that the species returns to previously known
haunts.
