Great work Shorty!
In 2006 Alastair decided to try and see 200 species in the ACT - the first "big year" here. It was later written up in Canberra Bird Notes (Dec 2008 issue), and he saw 208 species. EBird of course is now making it easy for many of us to keep a closer eye on our sightings over the course of the year. In 2019 a number of us achieved that "200 birds in a year" milestone. Special mention to one of our youngest members, Liam, who was one of those who managed it.
In this new year I'm trying to be a little less obsessed!

Thanks Christine,

It is a close call but the Regent Honeyeater just beats the Pied Honeyeater only because it was at my bird bath :)

A big congratulations to Shorty who has recorded observations of 225 species of bird in the ACT during 2019.
Any amazing record, well done Shorty!

(this included some great sightings such as Pied Honeyeater, Regent Honeyeater, Common Sandpiper, Pectoral Sandpiper, Crimson Chat .... I wonder what his "best" bird sighting was?)
