Kym does many great photos and obviously puts in a lot of skill and effort. I like those contributions. As do several others. And Kym gets some excellent records. As for the cormorant. I was simply acting to ensure that the breeding record is not ascribed to an incorrect species. It is quite reasonable to make a correction to the entire chat line. It should be done simply and straight to purpose (pointing out reasons if needed), as indeed it was done by Geoffrey and me. There is of course an option to advise only the contributor and wait for them to put forth a correction. But that may not happen. So if it is not fixed then other people may go out to find these breeding Pied Cormorants and there would inevitably be more corrections or questions by more contributors, if there is a long delay in correcting the report. Because the subject header of these emails can be what we search on, I submit that it is appropriate to correct it. Making that ID correction is a perfectly valid thing to do. Many of us do that and we all know who we are. Mostly these corrections and advices are very useful. There was nothing not “nice” about that.

Although I did make a mistake. I first intended my message of 1:08 today to only go to David and Geoffrey, as that was a bit esoteric about problems about naming birds. In copying it across from one reply to another, to send out, and editing it, I clumsily put it to cog list instead.

Hi Kym,

I look forward to your photos.  I just love your skill.

I also agree with your sentiments about the individuals that don’t “act nice”.  I am over the nitpicking comments that continually come from a certain source.

You “Wonder why we are the way we are”.  It is very likely a combination of genetics and environmental influences.

One last comment.  It is up to the broad membership of this chat line to call out inappropriate behaviour and/or ignore emails from certain sources.  It’s a bad look, for the group, when one of the groups best photographers (Kym) feels the need to defend themself from this scrutiny.

Lots more photos please Kym.
