Superb Parrots in Hughes

A couple of weeks ago I reported seeing flocks of Superb Parrots around Hughes Oval that were still mixed sex and deduced from this that they hadn't started nesting. I can now report that that for the last week all the SPs I have seen around Hughes have been male, so it seems that they have begun to nest.

This may be around the Federal Golf Course at the base of Red Hill; I will try to walk around there this week or on the weekend to see if there is any evidence for this (though parrots are very secretive around their nests). If I find evidence I expect the Friends of Red Hill will be pleased, as providing evidence that the FGC is a valuable habitat and should not be turned into housing development.
