Dear members

This is advanced notice of two 2020 field trips, for which accommodation has already been booked.  Bookings are being taken now.

  1. Snowy Mountains birding - Guthega - Monday 10 to Friday 15 February 2020

This trip will probably include a walk from Sawpit Creek down to the Snowy River and the Cascades walk at Sawpit Creek.  Apart from beautiful scenery, mountain flowers and cool weather, we should find lyrebird, honeyeaters, robins, thornbills,  parrots and flycatchers to name a few.

You will need to take all your food for 4 days as no shops are available in Guthega. We will have a shared dinner each night and happy hour.  With three others you will cater for dinner and nibbles on one of the four nights. This is a co-operative club, so a tidy up will be required before we leave.

Bookings for 12 participants will be accepted as soon as possible in order to confirm a booking made for Kyilla Lodge in Guthega. (Brindabella Ski Club).  To gain a place please contact Jean Casburn by email   When 12 bookings are received payment will be required shortly after. The cost for an adult over 4 nights is $86.00.  Final details will be provided in January.

  2. Green Cape - Tues 20 to Sat 24 October.  It seems likely that the lighthouse cottages at Green Cape in Ben Boyd NP near Eden will no longer be available for individuals or groups to hire after 2020 as they are likely to be taken over by a commercial operator as part of a 3 day walk/"glamping" enterprise.  As a result, COG has booked the cottages for one last time, for 4 nights at a cost of $326 per person.  Priority will be given to members who have NOT participated in a COG trip to Green Cape in the past.  If you are interested in attending, please contact me asap.  Once numbers are confirmed, a 50% deposit will be required.  For details of the site, see  https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/camping-and-accommodation/accommodation/green-cape-lightstation-keepers-cottage
