The Rage Level project has been criticised as lacking a strict scientific basis, although that charge might be levelled equally at several other surveys that keep participants entertained and offer
results on a ‘for what it’s worth’ basis. The input consists of soundings across a wide section of the community, with the numbers intended to express relative standings rather than numerical precision. The levels are calculated on a full year basis, accepting
that at times some species would earn a more elevated rank, for example magpie (spring), koel (summer). The Rage Level for some species is closely linked to the sensitivies of the respondent, for example some people have surprisingly strong feelings about
their car mirrors being attacked by a Noisy Miner or Magpie-lark, when in fact no damage is done. On the other hand, justifiably enraged, although relatively few in number, are those residents who have the prized fish in their water feature systematically
removed by a White-faced Heron.

How is the Rage level calculated?
The Canberra Times report quoted museum staff as saying that that particular pigeon would be allowed to complete one breeding cycle.

We have pigeons nesting in a sheltered gutter over a balcony (thus droppings etc on balcony floor and railing). It is my son’s currently unoccupied house.
