I heard one calling around 9.30 last night from across the road and when I went out to investigate it flew across the road and perched on the electricity wires out the front of our house, still calling.

I haven't heard one in the street in 24 years of living here, though I have seen them in Hughes and Garran, nearer to the edges of Red Hill. I don't know why one would come wandering at this time of year, but a nice surprise.
