This bird has been a regular visitor to my garden for the past couple of years ...

... invariably with its partner. In 2018, Philip Veerman suggested the colouring could be due to a pigment deficiency, but more resently ventured the opinion that it was a hybrid Crimson/Eastern. I'm assuming the more recent assessment is the more accurate.

Its possibly a bit early to know if the pair has bred this year, but certainly I never saw them tending young last year. I'll keep an eye open and post a note if I do so.

Greetings. One of my neighbours has a hybrid Crimson/Eastern Rosella. He has seen it feeding an immature crimson.

My understanding is that hybrid rosellas are infertile. Grateful for any correction to this understanding, or other suggestions as to what may be going on here.

Best wishes - David
