Hi John - it sounds very much to me like the thin call a blackbird makes when it has very young fledglings in close proximity - sort of like a call to say " keep quiet and stay put".

This faint repeated call was being made for ages from a bush overhanging my back fence. I assume it is a bird? The only birds I could see in the tree was a male Blackbird in mature plumage/colouring, but do they ever make a sound like this? It wasn’t obviously
calling, but I couldn’t see any other likely source.
