Fair answer but it would appear that Martin is comparing the first dated observation potentially of all observers from last year, to what may be the first dated observation of one observer this year (are there others?). Different sample size and does not really address whether the first one back in 2018 was 13 September was on schedule or early or late.

 

So not a lot to go on, in assessing a trend.

Returning or passing through?  The spike between mid-Sept and mid-Nov suggests we mainly see (or hear) transients. Apparently another sharp spike in the last week of December.
