Yes, it is on again. Our attempt to count birds across as much of the ACT as possible, over the weekend of 26-27 October. If you are new to the chat line, check out the details on
www.canberrabirds.org.au/observing-birds/cog-bird-blitz- there will be regular updates on the list of sites adopted, with a 29 Aug version to appear shortly. Hopefully many more of
you will sign up to survey the remaining sites, or others you are familiar with. It’s ok to survey the same site as others, but of course more helpful in the interest of overall coverage if you choose an as-yet unloved site. It’s preferable if you spend at
least 20 mins at the site you adopt, but of course if there is a lot of bird activity, spend as much time as necessary to get a good picture of the bird life of the site, and especially any breeding activity. If you submit your records via eBird, do remember
to share them with “COG Blitz”. Paper records are still fine. Or discuss your options with me. Barbara Allan, blitz coordinator
