Yes, cool indeed. I like to point out that living in the Washington DC suburbs (technically Bethesda Md, inside the Beltway) I found 6 woodpecker species within 5kms in the middle of a freezing
winter

Woodpeckers are so cool, even though they are shy you can usually get good views when they climb bare trunks. In Switzerland you have the Lesser, Middle and Greater Spotted Woodpeckers (and others), with the Middle not present in the UK.
