Hi to all who offered comment on the riddle of the carp in the farm dam.
Since there are no children or others who might have explained a human induced reason, I think the most likely explanation may be that of apparently sticky carp eggs being caught in a bird's feathers and then transferred to the dam.

Its probably also why a lot of riparian vegetation species are shared between Australia and Eurasia to our north, given commuting birds not 'passing through biosecurity'.
